The band will be hosting a race night at Darley's Hotel on Boothferry Road, Hessle, next to the school. If anyone would like to sponsor a horse, or a race, please contact us ASAP.
October 20th 1999
The Drum Corps site was today awarded a 'Bronze InterNet Marching Band Award for Web Excellence'.
In an e-mail sent to ourselves it was stated . . .
"The judges for the InterNet Marching Band Award, have visited your site and found it to be worthy of our Bronze InterNet Marching Band Award for Web Excellence.. We had an enjoyable time visiting your site. It displays good content, technical design, readability, and good graphical design, all of which are needed to qualify for our award."

'Free the Walford One' Appeal launched, to raise money to allow the band to compete in Calgary, Canada. Also a 'Roll of Pledges' was launched to honour our donators generosity.

Five band members (Sally & Laura Ward, Katy Parsons, Laura Kidd & Laura Spandler) roller-skated over the Humber Bridge and raised £120 towards the bands fundraising appeal for Canada. [Read the Report]

Hessle High School Drum Corps have been extremely honoured to be invited to participate in the World Showband Championships 2000 in Calgary, Canada. The invitation follows a Gold Medal winning performance at the 1998 Championships held in London.
Bands from around the globe will compete as part of the well known Calgary Stampede, in the Canadian Airlines Saddledome at Stampede Park in July 2000.
There are many performing opportunities for visiting bands, including playing in the magnificent Olympic Plaza and participating in the opening parade through Calgary, viewed by thousands and also broadcast on national and international television.
The Hessle High School Drum Corps are now actively fundraising, to enable the band to compete in this week long championships. They are hoping to raise £20,000 and are looking for sponsorship to take its members - many have never travelled abroad before - to this once in a lifetime, memorable and exciting event.

The latest addition to the band arrived - Jacob Benjamin Redhead.
First and long awaited child of Tracey (Mallet Instructor & Musical Director) & John (General Band Dogsbody, Ex-Brass Section and Web Site Designer) Redhead, weighing a mighty 9lb.
With the lungs he possesses, we are sure he will be a valuable asset to the wind section.
