Humber Bridge Sponsored Skate - 3rd Oct 1999
by Sally WardThe day looked cold, would it be warm enough? My mum was doubtful but we were determined.
My friends arrived one by one, each dressed (like me) looking like complete lunatics, wearing our pyjamas! We took a bucket to collect even more money!!
All five of us squeezed into the car, Sally Ward (that's me), Laura Ward, Katy Parsons, Laura Kidd and Laura Spandler. We arrived at the Humber Bridge for 12:00PM, and piled out of the car, getting quite a few odd looks.
Now it was time, we set off on our 3 mile roller-skate, we all fought on, the weather turned out beautiful and we all enjoyed it!
Amazingly Katy was the only one to fall over (and she didn't hurt herself). Finally the end was near, it was tiring but we all did it, earning a delicious bag of chips from Katy's dad and £120 for Hessle Drum Corps.
We'd just like to say a big 'THANK YOU' to all of the people that sponsored us and to those that donated money on the day.
